  • 4.5 out of 5 OVERALL: Great location. Quiet area. Easy access to Wendover. Friendly residents. MOST amenities are very nice. Unbelievable on-site staff. If water and gas or a basic cable package was included in our $1000/month (2 bed/2 bath apartment), this place would be a solid 5! LOCATION: You can't beat the location! If compelled, you can walk to Lowes Foods. The McDonalds is right there too for the food critics. For the price conscience family, the local Walmart/Sams Club is 5 minutes away. Wendover is close, but just far enough away that you can't hear the traffic. It's really nice when coming home from work knowing you're pretty much home when you get off the highway! The Palladium (movie theater, shops) is 5 minutes away. Golds Gym, an ABC store, and a gas station are 2 minutes away. APARTMENTS: Lots of space! Open floor plans. Good size bedrooms with walk-in closets. We love the fireplace despite it's awkward location in the floor plan (2 bed/2 bath apartment). They have outlets above it so you can wall mount your TV. The issue is that if you have a surround sound system or furniture, putting the TV above the fireplace won't work. They've got outlets on the other end of the room for your TV but then the fireplace will be over your left shoulder. It's weird, but with a little imagination or no cares about viewing angles and sound fields, you'll be fine. AMMENITIES: The pool looks nice. It wasn't finished until it was too cold to use. The waterfall sick. That whole area is top notch. The clubhouse is great with it's conference room, business room, kitchen with free coffee, billiards room, and...the fitness center. We signed our lease before the clubhouse was finished (even if it was finished, we would have signed the lease anyways). We were told the weight room was supposed to be state of the art. If cardio is all you want to do, this place has you covered. They've got 2 ellipticals. At the time of this review, they're both broken. They do have 2 treadmills that work and a recumbent bike. They need a rowing machine but that's a personal preference. If you want to weight train, you'll need to get a Golds Gym membership unless all you need is dumbbells that go up to 50 pounds. They had good intentions in this area. They need a cable machine, some med balls, and a squat rack with some free weights. Simple as that. If you're like me and lifting heavy things and setting them back down again is your fitness choice, Golds Gym is down the street. COMPLAINTS: To access your amenities, you'll need to purchase a ~$25 fob. That's okay because you get that money back at the end of your stay, but there's a nonrefundable $10 activation fee. Want more than one fob? More money. The community is gated, a gate you will get a FREE access code for! To make your entrance easier/faster, you can purchase another fob type device to wave in front of a scanner that opens the gate. You get that money back too apparently. However, there's another nonrefundable activation fee. Want to use the pool area? Purchase a pass for each person living in your residence. If you want to bring more than 2 friends you'll need to get the staffs approval. They're super cool though and will probably always say yes unless you're throwing a rager. My household has lived in a collective 6 different apartments. The contract we signed here is the lengthiest we've ever seen. The silver lining is that the residents after us should inherit a nearly spotless apartment unless we want to be fined :) There's 1 big thing and 2 small things keeping this place from full 5 stars. Big one. We'd happily pay $1000 a month if we got a free basic cable package or didn't have to pay for water & gas. $900 a month for a 2 bed/2 bath where we pay for water & gas would be a solid deal. The 2 small things are the fitness center and the fact that we don't like getting nickel and dimed in some aspects. We don't like buying stuff we already pay for every month. OVERALL: We have enjoyed Lafayette Landing. The on-site staff are the best! This place is a solid choice to call home!
